TetraGen Robotics closes oversubscribed $1.8M CAD Seed financing round

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, August 10, 2026 — TetraGen Robotics, Canada's first Physical AI company developing autonomous welding robots for general manufacturing, announced the close of an oversubscribed $1.8M CAD Seed financing. The round was led by StepChange Capital (Calgary, AB), with significant participation from Emend Vision Fund (Vancouver, BC) and Jim Richardson (Winnipeg, MB). The financing comes as manufacturers increasingly seek flexible automation solutions that can address skilled labour shortages while reducing the cost and complexity of deploying robotic welding.
TetraGen has already deployed its AI-enabled and vision-guided robots in real production environments in Canada. The company will use this investment to accelerate the expansion of its autonomous robotic welding systems across North America, strengthen its engineering and commercial teams, and support customer deployments with manufacturers throughout the region.
The company's autonomous welding systems combine artificial intelligence, advanced 3D vision, autonomous path planning, and industrial robotics to understand the physical part features, generate robot programs, compensate for dimensional variation, and adapt automatically to changing production conditions. Rather than relying on extensive manual programming and repeatable fixturing, manufacturers can deploy intelligent robotic welding cells that are ready for production with minimal set-up time and expertise required from the end user.
That simplicity has become one of the company's defining strengths.
Manufacturers often expect deploying robotic welding to involve weeks of programming, followed by constant troubleshooting every time parts or processes change. Instead, one of the most common reactions TetraGen hears after demonstrating the system is, "That's it?" The technology is intentionally designed to remove complexity from robotic automation, allowing manufacturers to begin producing high-quality welds with minimal programming while reducing rework and creating more stable production operations.
The company’s new investors believe that approach represents a meaningful shift in industrial transformation.
